10 Things You Can Expect To Be Free in A Hotel

If you love to travel, chances are you have stayed in your fair share of hotels. If you love to travel, you also know that it will cost you if you are going to stay at a nice hotel. One thing that makes paying so much for a hotel stay a bit easier is the free things that hotels offer. More and more hotels are offering freebies in hopes of bringing in more guests who are willing to pay their relatively high prices.

If you have a vacation coming up and it isn’t a staycation, you will need to book a hotel. It is best to choose a hotel that offers the following free amenities.

#1 Sewing Kit

There is nothing worse than losing a button or tearing a shirt when you are at a hotel. Chances are, you only brought enough outfits to last the trip. If you lose a button or tear your shirt, you will need to fix it. Many hotels sell sewing kits at the gift shop; however, the clerk might give you one for free if you ask at the desk. Many hotels have enough sewing kits in stock to give them away, hoping to make you a returning guest in the future.

#2 Streaming Services

When booking a hotel, you should try to find one that offers streaming services on their television. The ones that do have Smart TVs that include Netflix, YouTube, Pandora, and Hulu. You can sign in using your own account and then binge-watch your favorite shows in the hotel. Considering the high cost of hotel pay-per-view, you can save money by booking a hotel that offers free streaming services on all the televisions.

#3 Extra Toiletries

It is very rare to walk into a hotel and find that there are no essential toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, and lotion in the room. Even 1-star hotels make sure that the rooms are stocked.

Most hotels order their toiletries by the hundreds; therefore, you can be sure they always have extras. If you need more shampoo, conditioner, or anything else, you should be able to get it at the front desk for free. If they try to add the cost of the additional toiletries to your bill, it should be the last time you stay at that hotel.

#4 Laundry Bags

If you spend a week at a hotel, or even a long weekend, your dirty clothes are going to be an issue. Rather than keeping them in a corner on the floor or stuffing them in the pockets of your suitcase, you would ask the front desk for a laundry bag. Many hotels keep the bags to make it easier for guests to get their dirty clothes to the laundry, but you can get one to store your dirty clothes. If you were to buy a laundry bag in the store, it would cost you $5 or $10. If you can get one at the hotel front desk for free, you are making out.

#5 Disposable Razors

It isn’t uncommon to forget to pack a razor before taking a trip. If you need a razor when you get to the hotel, you should ask the front desk. Some hotels sell disposable razors in the hotel’s pantry, but the front desk clerk should give you one for free if you ask nicely. Like toiletries, hotels buy disposable razors in bulk. The hotel won’t be taking a hit if they give you one for free. Also, it is highly likely that they will agree to ensure that you are a satisfied customer.

#6 Phone Chargers

There is nothing worse than taking a trip and realizing that you left your charger at home. It can also be frustrating if you have your charger, but it breaks during your trip. Many hotels will give you a phone charger to use during your stay. You won’t be able to take it home, but having free access to a phone charger will prevent you from needing to buy one.

#7 Snacks

If you are staying at a 1-star hotel, it is doubtful that there will be complimentary snacks in the room. However, this is something that you should expect from a nice hotel. It is nice to walk into your hotel room to find a basket of snacks waiting for you. Many of them will make sure that your snack basket is refilled regularly during your stay.

#8 Coffee and Tea

Many people cannot start their day until they have had a cup of coffee. Because of this, many hotels offer complimentary coffee and tea right in your room. Besides a small coffee maker, you will find coffee, tea, sugar, and creamer. This will make it so that you don’t have to leave your room or the hotel to have your morning coffee.

#9 Free WiFi

Today, people rely on WiFi to power their laptops, Smartphones, and tablets. When booking a hotel, you should find one that offers free WiFi. The hotel already has WiFi; therefore, there is no reason why they shouldn’t provide free WiFi to their guests. This is a service that you should never have to pay for when staying at a hotel. This is one of the best vacation tips that you will ever get.

#10 Room Upgrades

Many hotels will grant free room upgrades during the off-season if they are available. If you ask the front desk nicely during check-in, there is a good chance that they will be more than willing to accommodate you. If you are lucky, the hotel will call you prior to your arrival to offer you a free upgrade. If this doesn’t happen, you will need to step up and ask.

Hotels work very hard to keep their guests comfortable and satisfied. One way that may do this is by offering free things during your trip. When booking a hotel, you should try to find one that provides each of the hotel freebies listed above for free.
